Company Report 2023 | Where we stand, where we go: Our collective achievements
2023 showed us once again how much can be achieved when we work together. It was a year full of encounters, new ideas, and small and large steps forward. We celebrated, learned, discussed, tried new things, and constantly asked ourselves how we can act responsibly as a team and as a company. In this report, we'll highlight the moments and topics that shaped Peerigon in 2023. We'll also present facts and figures that demonstrate our progress toward sustainability and social responsibility. This report is our review of a year that brought us closer together and our starting point for what lies ahead.
team excursion | Music, a lot of fun and cultural participation
A special highlight in 2023 was the joint trip to the Augsburg music festival “Modular” in May. Peerigon was financially involved as a partner and helped make the “Community Ticket” possible. The Community Ticket is a reduced festival ticket that is not tied to certain conditions, such as a student ID, but can be purchased by anyone who cannot afford the regular price. The aim is to enable everyone to participate in culture. And as a birthday present for the whole team, the Peeris could also attend the festival at the company's expense and had a really great time together.
Team Training | Weekly Training Sessions
At Peerigon, we’re always looking to improve—and what better way than in a relaxed setting to discuss current, important topics? Every Friday, we set aside two hours for these sessions. While primarily designed for our junior team members, seniors are welcome to join if they’re interested in the topic. Typically, Johannes leads the sessions, sharing valuable insights from his 14+ years of JavaScript experience. We tackled topics like Typescript and React fundamentals. CSS challenges also played a big role, sparking a variety of creative solutions and perspectives from everyone involved. Occasionally, we focused on specific project features, discussing what worked well and what could improve. With Johannes on parental leave toward the end of the year we kept the sessions going and tried to solve itching questions ourselves. Still, we were happy when Jonas occasionally took over, holding sessions about more advanced topics such as build tools or general project architecture and offering fresh perspectives.
Anniversary | 12 Years of Peerigon
At the end of July we celebrated 12 years of Peerigon with a summer party. Together with colleagues, families and the many people who have accompanied and supported Peerigon along the way. We enjoyed being together, good conversations, excellent food, live music and much more. Even a little rain couldn't change that. And there was more to celebrate: back then we have been B Corp certified for a year, making us part of a great community that aims to bring businesses together to work towards an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economic system.
Remote (corporate) culture | Hybrid teams and the importance of spending time together
Peerigon has enabled employees to work remotely even before the coronavirus - and the percentage of “remotees” still continues to rise. The Peeris greatly appreciate the flexibility and independence, but surveys and conversations also repeatedly show that they miss the certain “social factor” that everyday office life brings with it. This aspect and other challenges of hybrid teams were discussed in a passion group on the topic of “remote culture” and a wide variety of solutions and new ideas were developed. One successful result is that there are now two team events per year where all team members come together “for real” for one week in one place and work together, learn from each other, exchange ideas and ... have fun. These are all important components of a functioning team and an appreciative corporate culture.

New Pay Journey | Let's talk about money!
"The collective discussion about what kind of work is really worth has great potential for change." We had the thrilling opportunity to be part of Stefanie Hornung’s new book „New Pay Journey“. As one exemplary company, we contributed our practical experiences about Peerigon’s salary system and our approach to fair wages. Which is and will stay an ongoing process.

In 2023, we continued our tradition of tracking a fortieth of our working time as sports, making sure our office bodies stayed in motion. Alongside the usual suspects like (ice) hockey, cycling, running, or hiking, some Peeris invested their sports time in more unconventional ways like longboarding, pickleball or volleyball during rain.

Learning together stayed a big part of our 2023. With formats like our Weekly Junior Training Sessions and the Thursday Tryout, we spent 844 hours sharpening our skills side by side—whether on TypeScript and React basics, tricky CSS puzzles, or deeper dives into tools and architecture. Beyond that, everyone kept investing in their own growth, adding up to 1030 hours of personal learning through articles, videos,hands-on tutorials and attending conferences.

👧 1 GirlsDay
We’ve long appreciated our close ties with Augsburg’s University of Applied Sciences, and in 2023 we continued to strengthen that partnership. We loved engaging with students who share our values and curiosity.
We also supported Girls’Day this year: four girls spent the day with us, getting a hands-on taste of web basics with HTML/CSS and exploring Minecraft together. We received really lovely feedback, always a great reminder of why these days matter.
